Tai Chi Classes in Lewes
Clear instruction. Focused internal work. Small group sessions.
I teach regular Tai Chi classes in a quiet central Lewes studio. These are small group sessions designed to help you develop balance, structure and internal connection through steady, focused practice.
Classes are suitable for all levels, including complete beginners. The emphasis is on clarity - how to stand, how to move, how to feel what’s going on inside your body.
This isn’t performance or choreography. It’s a method for learning how your body works and how to move with more awareness, stability and ease.

About the Space
The Training Hall is a quiet, studio based at the Lewes Subud Centre on Talbot Terrace. It’s warm, calm, and used only for practice - not shared with other classes.
If it’s raining outside, there’s no waiting area, but you can arrive a few minutes early and come straight in.
What to Expect
We work with standing postures, slow and precise movements, and clear instructions. Over time, students learn to:
Distribute weight evenly and shift without strain
Relax the joints and sink into the feet
Build coordination between the upper and lower body
Improve balance, circulation and postural stability
Sessions also include time to ask questions and understand why we’re doing what we’re doing - not just how.
You won’t be expected to copy movements or memorise long forms. We go slowly. The goal is to understand what’s happening inside the body - not to perform anything for show.
A Practical System
I teach a system of Tai Chi based on internal structure, not surface form. It’s methodical. Each part of the body has a role. Over time, we bring those parts into relationship - so that movement becomes whole, not scattered.
There’s nothing mystical about it. We start with what we can feel, and build from there.
Getting Started
Classes run weekly during term time. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential.
You can book a class here, or get in touch if you have questions.
Who It’s For
People attend for all sorts of reasons. Some want to improve balance and movement. Others are looking to support recovery from stress, illness or injury. Many are simply curious.
No experience is needed. You don’t need to be fit or flexible. You just need to be willing to practise regularly and pay attention.
This work can support people dealing with:
Fatigue or burnout
Post-viral recovery
Chronic tension or physical pain
Anxiety or low-level agitation
Poor posture or weak balance
If you're unsure whether group classes are the right place to start, I offer one-to-one sessions for new students who want more individual attention.
